Frequently Asked Questions
A safe tandem paragliding flight requires some organization and preparation. The weather has to cooperate, the equipment must be prepared and serviced, and clothing and other gear need to be suited to the conditions.
To make sure your tandem flight is a complete success and an unforgettable adventure, we've put together lots of answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs) below.
You can group the FAQs by topic by selecting a category.
You can fly practically at any time of the day or year. In the morning the air is calmer and there are no turbulences disturbing the flight. In the afternoon - especially in summer - it can become a bit more thermally active, but this often allows us to ascend. If this becomes too uncomfortable for a passenger, one can easily leave this upwind and steer in the opposite direction to the landing site. Even in winter you can fly super tandem. The air here is usually very calm.
We enjoy every flight and give our best to every one. Due to our offers we can offer exciting flights with different wind and weather conditions as well as seasons.
A certain level of fitness is definitely a plus, but not strictly required. You do need to be able to run, though. Often, we have a 5-15 minute walk to the actual launch site.
Medical conditions such as high blood pressure, circulatory issues, heart problems, etc., must be reported when booking.
The minimum weight is 25 kg, and the maximum weight is 110 kg. Please let us know if you want to book a flight for your child so we can prepare the right equipment.
We fly all year round (even in winter), but strictly only when conditions allow for a safe flight.
The sun doesn't necessarily have to be shining, and we fly under overcast skies too. The wind cannot be too strong and must come from the right direction. Our tandem pilots know exactly when the weather is right for flying and when it isn't. Due to weather conditions, however, appointments or flying locations may need to be changed, or in worst-case scenarios, cancelled at short notice.
There are currently no age restrictions for passengers. For minors, written consent from both parents is required.
Yes. Height is perceived completely differently when flying compared to looking down into an abyss from a high tower, for example. When paragliding, you feel "supported" from above.
We are happy to arrange flights for multiple people. Please let us know if you want to take off at the same time. The larger the group, the earlier we need your booking. We can launch with up to about 5 gliders simultaneously, depending on the flying site and weather conditions.
Our tandem pilots bring a wealth of experience from both solo and tandem flying. We fly very often and in a wide range of weather conditions. Plus, we are all locals and know the Bernese Oberland inside out.
Safety is our top priority. We don't compromise and therefore sometimes make unpopular decisions—meaning we will cancel flights if safety is in question.
As soon as we have received your order, we will contact you personally by e-mail or phone. You can pay the tandem flight in cash at the start of the flight, by direct bank transfer (please bring payment confirmation) or by payment slip to our account.
If you want to give the flight as a voucher, please transfer the invoice amount to our account. We will send you the voucher by mail.
If we do not cancel the flight until 20:00 the evening before due to unfavourable flight weather, the flight will be carried out as agreed. In case of a short-term cancellation or postponement of an appointment (e.g. due to bad flying weather) we will contact you again by SMS, phone or e-mail.
The meeting points for the various flight locations are mentioned on each flight page and illustrated with a map. The meeting points are usually very close to where you'll land later. Your pilot may also let you know about an alternative meeting point in advance.
In most cases, we take a cable car and walk a few steps to the launch site. Some launch sites can be reached by bus or car.
Your tandem pilot will give you a detailed briefing before takeoff and do a practice run. The most important thing during takeoff is that as a passenger, you do not sit down, but keep running until the pilot tells you that you can settle into the harness.
This is often a key question, and there's no simple one-size-fits-all answer. Flight times range from 15 to 45 minutes, depending on thermals, wind, and how the passenger is feeling. However, pure flight time isn't the only thing that makes the experience amazing.
Many passengers tend to feel a bit queasy in strong thermals or during long flights. In our experience, the sweet spot for a first flight is about 15 minutes. For more experienced passengers or those looking for a longer ride, we offer various options to book an extended flight.
When landing, you just need to slide forward in your harness and take a few steps as your feet touch the ground. Your pilot will remind you of this before or during the flight.
In case of bad weather or too much wind, the tandem flight will be cancelled and rescheduled. Safety is our top priority. We will contact you by the day before at the latest (8:00 PM) via email, SMS, or phone if the flight cannot take place.
If you don't hear from us, your flight is good to go as planned.
It's best for your family, friends, or guests to wait at the landing site of the respective flying location. From the landing site, you can usually watch the entire flight and welcome the passenger right after landing. The whole experience takes about 1 to 1.5 hours (depending on the booked flight, see details there)
If you'd like, your tandem pilot can take pictures and videos using a wide-angle GoPro camera. You don't need to bring your own camera. Please note that we cannot assume any liability if your camera gets lost or damaged during the flight.
A tandem glider flies at about 36 to 40 km/h and can be slowed down or sped up by pulling on the brake lines. That's why wearing warm enough clothing is a must.
Clothes adapted to the season. When flying you are constantly exposed to a wind speed of approx. 40km/h (chillfactor!).
Sturdy, ankle-high shoes (see footwear) are essential, as is warm clothing (jacket and long pants in summer, ski pants or warm pants and a jacket in winter), sunglasses (because of the slipstream), and possibly gloves.
Our pilots will provide the helmet.
Passengers wearing unsuitable clothing – especially footwear – may be turned away by the pilot, and the flight will be cancelled at the passenger's full expense (see our Terms and Conditions). This is because we cannot risk unnecessary injuries to passengers.
We strongly recommend hiking or mountain boots to prevent accidentally twisting your ankle while walking – especially during takeoff or landing. This is very important to us so we can help prevent any unnecessary injuries.
If a passenger wears unsuitable shoes, the pilot on-site will decide whether the flight goes ahead or is cancelled, at the passenger's full expense (in accordance with our Terms and Conditions).
There's no space in the paragliding backpack for extra backpacks, hiking poles, etc. However, we can easily take a jacket, your phone, and a wallet along with us. Anything else you bring can be left in our cars or at the valley stations.
For Hike & Fly trips, your pilot will discuss with you beforehand what gear you should bring.
Two years from the date of issue. Issued vouchers are transferable to other services (see also Terms and Conditions).
Vouchers are valid for 2 years and can be used within this time without having to book a specific flight date in advance. The date can be arranged spontaneously upon agreement.
